On October 1st, the laboratory of Jinhong Group located in Lingang District was filled with jubilation. In front of the experimenters, there was a batch of frosted gray PC/ABS alloy blocks. After being "modulated" by the high-end MBS product, the latest "industrial monosodium glutamate" developed by Jinhong Group, the alloy performance was significantly improved, sufficient to meet the accessory standards of national heavy equipment such as the C919 large aircraft and high-speed maglev trains.

MBS is an industrial additive that resembles monosodium glutamate (MSG) to the naked eye. Jinhong Group has been striving for five years to successfully put these seemingly insignificant tiny particles into production.

"We have no choice but to do it. The pricing power of high-end MBS products lies abroad. Even if we import tens of thousands of tons every year and sell them at 40,000 yuan per ton, we can only hold our noses and accept it." Faced with technological "overwhelming", Xu Dongguo, Chairman of Jinhong Group, deeply realized the importance of independent research and development. "Once our products are 'choked', we will not only be at the mercy of others in the industrial chain, but the quality of national heavy equipment will also be affected," Xu Dongguo said.

The production technology of high-end MBS is in the hands of Japanese enterprises, and even European and American enterprises are unable to produce it. When the overseas experts hired at high salaries heard that Jin Hong wanted to independently develop MBS with the same performance, they directly refused, saying, "Technically, there is no second feasible path."

The difficulty lies in the basic structure of MBS. This nano-scale product belongs to a core-shell structure, where one material is encapsulated on the surface of another, similar to a fruit shell encapsulating the fruit core. At home and abroad, many researchers have devoted themselves to the study of simultaneously increasing the impact strength and melt index of the product, but no results have been achieved so far.

If there's no path ahead, carve one out yourself! Facing the thorny road of research and development, Xu Dongguo remains ambitious.

At that time, Jinhong Group acquired the production technology of Rohm-Hass, the previous industry leader in the United States, making its domestic production technology among the best. Facing the crucial step of transitioning from low-end to high-end, the relevant departments of our city joined hands with Jinhong to ignite "three fires", vigorously tackling key issues in theory, talent, and experimentation.

Under the coordination of the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and other relevant departments, Xu Dongguo led his staff to visit universities and research institutions such as Tsinghua University, Jilin University, and Harbin Institute of Technology (Weihai), gathering a group of R&D talents in specialized fields. Until this year, a theory that "started from scratch" finally sprouted successfully in the laboratory: silicone binuclear core-shell structure MBS.

This can be regarded as a historic breakthrough in domestic MBS technology. Under this structure, the MBS produced by Jinhong Group integrates high impact resistance, high melt index, low odor, and other properties, and even surpasses imported products in some areas. It not only has a broad market sales prospect but will also break the monopoly of foreign technology and products, further increasing the proportion of independent research and development in the production of key strategic materials domestically.

Currently, this product has embarked on the "fast track" towards industrialization. Not far from the laboratory, on the construction site of the Jinhong Group's high-impact, low-odor, high-melt index MBS complete technology development and industrialization project, numerous factory buildings have already sprung up. According to reports, this provincial key technological breakthrough project will establish an MBS industrialization production line with an annual production capacity of 30,000 tons over two years, and is expected to generate an additional annual sales revenue of 800 million yuan.
