MBS, a white powder-like industrial additive, may seem unremarkable at first glance, but when added to engineering plastics, it can significantly enhance their performance, meeting the performance standards required for components of national heavy equipment such as high-speed maglev trains.

High-quality MBS products exhibit stronger impact resistance, higher melt index, and lower irritating odor. The performance of functional plastics produced through blending is greatly enhanced. However, the production technology of high-quality MBS has always been controlled by foreign companies, and pricing power has also been in foreign hands. The price is set at 40,000 yuan per ton, and even if tens of thousands of tons are imported annually, we have to bite the bullet and accept it.

Xu Dongguo was filled with determination. Faced with this technological monopoly, he made up his mind to develop his own high-quality MBS products. Last year, Jinhong Group successfully broke the foreign monopoly and developed high-quality MBS products. Currently, the MBS production line is undergoing intense assembly and debugging, and it is expected to be completed and put into operation early next year.

The bottleneck in producing and developing high-quality MBS lies in its basic structure. This nano-scale product belongs to a core-shell structure, where one material is encapsulated on the surface of another, similar to a fruit shell encapsulating the fruit core. At home and abroad, many researchers have devoted themselves to the study of simultaneously increasing the impact strength and melt index of the product, but no results have been achieved so far.

At that time, Jinhong Group had acquired the production technology of Rohm-Hass, the previous industry leader in the United States, and its technology for producing ordinary MBS products in China was already first-rate. However, when it came to making the leap from ordinary to high-quality products, it still lacked the support of the latest technological theories.

Under the coordination of government departments, Xu Dongguo visited universities and institutions such as Tsinghua University, Jilin University, and Harbin Institute of Technology (Weihai), gathering a group of R&D talents in specialized fields. Until last year, a theory that "started from scratch" finally sprouted successfully in the laboratory: silicone binuclear core-shell structure MBS.

This can be regarded as a historic breakthrough in domestic MBS technology. Under this structure, the MBS produced by Jinhong Group integrates high impact resistance, high melt index, low odor, and other properties, and even surpasses imported products in some fields. It not only has a broad market sales prospect but will also break the foreign monopoly.

"Look, we haven't even officially started production yet, and already many customers have come knocking on our door, with orders piling up," said Xu Dongguo. Currently, the company's top priority is to focus on the early commissioning of the production line and achieving early returns. According to reports, Jin Hong Group will complete the construction of an MBS industrial production line with an annual production capacity of 30,000 tons in two years, with an expected annual sales revenue increase of 800 million yuan.
